Holiday Hours & FedEx-ing Morning Buns

During the holiday season we get a lot of requests to ship our famous morning buns all over the country. This Thanksgiving we only had a handful of orders, but with the timing of Christmas this year we wanted to send out a PSA regarding timing of shipments, especially knowing that the big holiday itself falls on a Monday this year.

We will be open for our regular hours until Christmas Eve:

Monday-Saturday 5:30am-3:00pm

Sunday: 7:00am-1:00pm

CHRISTMAS EVE: Sunday, December 24th: 7:00am-12:00pm

We will be closed from Christmas Day, Monday, December 25th, until Sunday, January 7th. We will reopen and resume our normal business hours above on Monday, January 8th.

When I was dropping off our Thanksgiving orders to ship at our local FedEx, which is in a brand new location as of this year - it is an absolutely fantastic facility! - I realized that timing for the holiday delivery this year was a little trickier than first anticipated.

When we ship our morning buns, we typically suggest a next-day delivery speed - this ensures that the buns will be as fresh as possible, and it's always fun to get them so quickly! But this time of year we have the luxury of sending our buns with 2-day shipping. The cooler temperatures ensure that the buns stay fresher longer, and arrive in good shape.

The process for shipping morning buns does take a few days - we typically require 48 hours notice for orders, but with the holidays we do have a very strict deadline. In order to receive buns for Friday, December 22nd (the ONLY day we are able to have them arrive this year), we must have all FedEx order requests by Monday, December 18th. The last day we can ship buns is through next-day shipping on Thursday, December 21st to arrive Friday, December 22nd. If you'd prefer to do 2-day and have them arrive that Friday, the last day to ship is Wednesday, December 20th.

Requests for shipping buns can be made by sending an email to christine@wickedislandbakery.com with the following information:

- Shipping address (zip code being the most important)

- Number of morning buns you'd like shipped

As far as shipping rates go, we can provide an estimate - please note that the estimates we provide are just that - the rates can change for many reasons the day of, but usually we are spot-on with our estimates. We also would like to mention the fact that shipping buns is dependent entirely on the cooperation of the weather, which we all know can be tricky here on Nantucket.

The rest of the cost depends on how many morning buns you get - we have a $5 handling fee if you order 6 (our minimum), or $10 if you order more). Each bun is $4.75.

We do require a credit card when you place your order - we accept cards after all of the other details are ironed out and confirmed, and charge it for the morning buns and the handling fee immediately. The shipping fee is charged to the same card the day we ship the buns.
